MUMBAI: The National Award winner Monali Thakur, finally releases the first song from her debut album Tamanna, the one she has been super excited for. Well, her enthusiasm completely shows up with the preparation and hard work she managed to put in for the album.
Monali has unleashed her never-seen-before avatar in Tamanna with jazzy makeup, glittery clothing and of course the blue lipstick. “I was really scared that Blue lipstick dekh ke log pagal na ho jaye. But they really took it well. Elton Fernandez is a great makeup artiste and it was his idea to wear blue lipstick. I wasn’t too sure about wearing it because we do not go so bold in India. I asked each and every person on the sets if the lipstick was doing fine,” said the singer.
The outfits and the hairdo of Monali in the video also have a story to tell. “My stylist team and I flew to Thailand to pick up certain clothes and the wigs used in the video. I wanted different funky and crazy looks and for which we went to Thailand and shopped our hearts out within two days. I also picked up a few dresses from Falguni and Gems, they have the best bold and fancy collection,” she added.

Coming back to the newly released song; this was one of a kind experience for Monali. “I am feeling great, excited and nervous because I have been waiting to release my single and I just wasn’t able to do that due to time constraints. I finally collaborated with these cool guys and came out with the first track. The other tracks are also ready and I am planning to release it every two to three months. I had to organize things by myself for the songs. But, launching it on my YouTube channel and having the right team to work on, it was exciting,” said the Moh Moh Ke Dhaage singer.

Sung and composed by Monali, the song is penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya whom Monali believes have written beautiful lyrics as he understood her exact thought process. “The production was done in Mumbai but it sounded a lot like a Bollywood song. So I wanted something that didn’t sound Bollywood. One day I heard Bert Elliot online and I got in touch with him. He is such a sweet, humble and patient, he made the track for me, we fixed it and that’s how Tamanna was made,” said Monali.
After Monali’s looks, the next thing in priority was the graphics. The post-production and VFX were handled by White Turtle Studios and grading by Nude Studios. “I had a very efficient team to work on Tamanna and we played a lot with the graphics and VFX,” she added.
As the title suggests, Monali has described her Tamanna (wishes) through the video which are simple. She only wants to live a happy life and be happy because she believes it to be an amazing feeling and wants to live it always.
Further, she reveals her mantra of overcoming a bad situation. “When there are circumstances that pull you down and makes you sad, my escape has been dancing either at the salsa class or I dance in my house. My dad is also like this; sometimes he will also start dancing. I do this if I cannot leave the place that is bringing me down and if I can’t travel. It’s my escape for happiness and that’s what I am saying in the song,” ended Monali.
