MUMBAI: In an initiative to prevent students’ suicides and support the ‘I Pledge to Stop Student Suicides’ movement, a clutch of prominent musicians have come together to launch a commemorative compilation album christened ‘Follow your dreams’
The album compiles tracks donated by leading musicians and music labels, including Sony Music. The tracks include Euphoria’s Soneya, Kailash Kher’s Bheeg Gaya Mera Mann, Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s track Aasman Ke Paar which was also featured in the movie Rockford, Agnee with its The Love Song, Something Relevant’s Tomorrow, Parikrama with its track Vapourize, Luke Kenny’s Take it Easy, Indian Ocean’s From The Ruins and Marathi composer Ajay Naik’s track featuring Shankar Mahadevan, called Walnavari Jarase. The album is available online for free download on www.iken.in.
Talking about his support for the initiative, Indi-pop band Euphoria’s lead singer Palash Sen who also launched the album in Mumbai on Wednesday said, “Through the ‘I pledge to stop student Suicides’ initiatve, we want to help all those who have a dream, but don’t have a hand to guide them. The album is meant to inspire students and create awareness amongst everone who plays an important part in shaping a young life during these formative years.”

Citing an example from his own life, Sen added, “I was subject to a lot of pressure during my days of college and music was the only healer during that time. Music brings joy and it is the only thing that helps you sail through difficult nights.”
The movement is a social initiative started on social networking site Facebook to create awareness and to reach out to the society at large to recognize the issue as a systemic flaw.
