Musical voyage of Lata Mangeshkar to release soon

PUNE: Yatindra Mishra, who is known for his books on Ustad Bismillah Khan ‘Sur Ki Baradari’ and a compilation of Gulzar’s poems ‘Yaar Julahe’, is now working on the musical journey of the nightingale of India – Lata Mangeshkar.  Mishra addressed this at the ‘Baajaa Gaajaa: Music Conclave 2012’ held on 11-12 February,2012 in Pune.

The book, chronicling the seven-decades of her musical voyage in the form of conversations, by author Mishra is slated to be released in the next two years.

The book to be published in English and Hindi is a conversational biography… about the life and times of the living legend. It mirrors the legend’s musical voyage from the making of her first movie â€?Mahal’ in 1949 with the song â€?Aayega Aanewala’ to the era in which she sang, the people she has worked with etc.

Speaking about his association with the singing legend, Mishra said, I feel privileged and fortunate to write about her. I am blessed that she is giving me good amount of time and telling me about her musical life with so much of enthusiasm….

The book describes Lata didi’s childhood and her musical career from the past era till date. It includes the anecdotes, trivia and behind the scenes, the people she has worked with like musicians and lyricist, and also captures various topics and subjects of her life in detail,… he noted.

Mishra has three collections of poetry to his name – â€?Yada Kada’, â€?Ayodhya Tatha Anya Kavitayein’ and â€?Dyodhi Par Alaap’ – besides which he has written a book on classical singer Girija Devi (Girija) and a book of conversations with dancer Sonal Mansingh (Devpriya).
