MUMBAI: After an overwhelming show in Delhi, the third edition of Chivas Studio over the weekend in Mumbai hosted a 1960s-based Broadway musical extravaganza â€?Love & All That Jazz’ directed by Rohan Sippy.
Music by Ranjit Barot, written by Aliya Curmally, produced by Chivas India, choreographed by Terence Lewis and styled by David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore, Love & All That Jazz was a simple quintessential tale brought to life through the pizzazz of the 60s and its racy music. Combining the musical story telling tradition of Broadway and giving it a stylish twist, Sippy conceived and directed the story of love set in the backdrops of all that is very 60’s. A tale of love and longing was played by Ali Fazal, Shahana Goswami, and Rahul Dev.
The act was supported by Diva (Hazel Keech), Bandmaster (Siddharth Kumar), the mysterious and dark Benny (Hussain Dalal), the entertaining Twilight Players (Sinbad, Ammo, Jimi Phgura), musicians Jarvis Menezes (piano), Ross Eustis (trumpet), Rhys D’souza (alto saxophone), Adrian D’souza (drum) and Rushad Mistry (bass).
Ecstatic Rohan Sippy on directing the musical tale said, Directing a live musical is new to me; moreover, it is something that hasn’t been tried before by anyone in India. That makes the experience a challenging one. Like any Broadway musical, this one had songs, dance and glamour….
Other creative performances included Art Jam – live art maestro Brian Olsen and Mrigya, Art Foyer- painter and artiste Paresh Maity with ace photographer Jatin Kampani, and Mixology – Chivas Brand Ambassador Max Warner.
