MUMBAI: With the demise of music director Ravindra Jain, the music industry has lost yet another talent. The loss is a hard hit for many in the industry, especially for those who connected with him on personal level, and others on a professional level.
Indian classical musician Vijay Yesudas, on behalf his family, told Radioandmusic.com, “It is truly sad – my father (Yesudas) and he had a great connection and they both adore each other. It is very sad, another great musician and wonderful human being has left us. I am sure his music will be something the Gods up there want to hear every day.”
Yesudas and Jain share a special bond, having sung a number of memorable songs together like ‘Oo Goriya Re’ (Naiyya), ‘Beeti Hui Raat Ki’ (Ayyash), and ‘Gori Tera Gaon’ (Chitchor). It was Jain who introduced an already famous Yesudas to Bollywood.

The 71-year old musician, who suffered from multiple organ failure, was kept for last respects at Ajivasan Hall in Juhu, and many from the film industry paid tribute to him. From the music industry names like Khayyaam, Udit Narayan, Suresh Wadkar and Sadhna Sargam, offered prayers. Remembering Jain, Narayan told Radioandmusic.com, “I had worked with him for ‘Vivah’ and it was a privilege to spend time with him. He was such a great artist, and despite the kind of fame he achieved, he was very humble. We have lost a gem of a person, who can never be replaced.”
Many other personalities like Hema Malini, Vishal Bhardwaj and Priya Dutt, amongst others, paid their last respects to the musician.
Other musicians like Lata Mageshkar, Sonu Nigam Shaan, Salim Merchant, Sona Mohapatra, Kailash Kher, Pritam and many others took to Twitter to express their grief after Jain’s passing. For many he was a “gem”, and his music and contribution to the music industry will always be remembered.
