MUMBAI: Music for Equality is Fight-Back’s new initiative to raise awareness on gender equality a concert to raise awareness on gender equality will take place today at Blue Frog on September 10, 2009 (9 PM onwards). Arijit Datta (vocals), Nikhil D’souza (vocals), Vinay Lobo (guitar), Kenneth Rebello (bass) and Adrian D’souza (drums) would be performing tonight.
The Idea behind this initiaive is to create a platform to address the needs of women as well as provide them an avenue to voice their opinion. Fight Back was launced in January 2008 by Zubin Driver after the molestation incident outside JW Marriot
Social activist Teesta Setalvad, noted lawyer and human activist Dolly Thakore, renowned theatre personality Ranvijay, Host of MTV Roadies show Raghu Ram, TV judge and producer at MTV are part of this initiative.
Some of the notable causes of Fight back:
1. Wallet cards, designed by the Fight-Back team. The cards contain vital information for girls with important phone numbers across Maharashtra. Volunteers from Fight-Back and Rotract Club distribute these on periodic basis.
2. As a part of the republic day activity, fight-back got over 400 schools from all over India, this equals to over 1 million children, to read the constitution of India.
3. Women’s Labyrinth… and Postcard to Pakistan… art installations at 2009 Kala Ghoda festival.
4. An activity against Female Foetecide – Indian Media Association (IMA) is supporting the activity.
