Television`s popularity as a means of promoting music albums continues to grow.
According to the latest TAM Adex survey, music albums` advertising on television grew by 71 per cent in its volumes during January-September 2007 as compared to January-September 2006.
Stiff competition to the promotion of music albums on TV comes in the form of film trailors which take up the lion`s share of 69 per cent, as against music albums, which had a 31 per cent share of advertising, says the report.
However, what began with a spurt petered out later in the year, as music album advertising on TV dropped by two per cent during Q3 2007 as compared to Q1 2007.
Film trailors on the other hand, were seen most during Q3 2007 whereas `Music Album` advertising were at their best during Q1 2007, the study says.
Film trailors have been spread out consistently over commercial breaks and music programmes, whereas music album advertising was dominant during commercial breaks, the report notes.
In fact, there was a 108 per cent increase in music album advertising during commercial breaks compared to in program advertising this year so far.
On regional music channels, the report notes, music albums were advertised only during commercial breaks.
Kisi Din Adnan Sami, Phir Bewafaai and Maah E Ru were the top three music albums advertised during January-September 2007.
