Mumbai to play host to India Music Week 2013

MUMBAI: After the Dubai Music Week, the recently concluded International Music Week, Pune, and MIDEM, I am sure you are beginning to wonder where the India Music week is. To answer your question, The Indian Music Week, a week-long Rock Street Journal event, will be yet another December arrival. Scheduled for 1-8 December 2013, the India Music Week, supported by the Norwegian Embassy, will hold a two day conference and will play a host to international delegates from Bangladesh, France and Norway, to name a few. Needless to say, there will be artiste performances as well.

Unlike last year, the event will be hosted solo by Mumbai. Speaking to Radioandmusic.com’s Disha Deshpande about his experiences from the previous two years, Anirban Chakraborty, Rock Street Journal Executive Director and Organiser of the annual 100 Piper India Music Week said, “The experience has only gotten better as we keep discovering new talents and the possibilities become bigger with each edition.”

Explaining the reason behind hosting the event in Mumbai alone, Anirban said “This year is going to be a little more focused on the agendas we have as RSJ which is to Discover, Publish and Showcase. Hence this time we are going to remain in one city, Mumbai. There is an extensive and very useful IMW Conference part designed by us for musicians and students in music and related people to the music fraternity. Apart from this a carefully selected group of artistes will be showcasing their music across two venues blueFROG (Worli) and Bonobo (Bandra).” The two-day conference will be held at the True School of Music (Worli).

Anirban also revealed that they have opted for the upcoming artistes as they need to showcase their talents to an important delegation of music promoters, festival organisers, agents from different parts of the world and our country. Artistes like Zoo, MAD BOY MINK, Spud In the Box, Sky Rabbit and many others will get a good opportunity through this festival not only by performance but also meeting important people in the business.” He also said that the line-up will only see additions and not cancellations as “RSJ will never cancel any event or artiste once announced.”

IMW 2013 will be looking at RSJonline, blueFROG, Nh7.in and the likes for their digital promotion.

The speakers for the conference, topics of discussion and the ticketing platforms that IMW will tie up with are details that remain undisclosed as of now, as are the sponsorships and funding pattern.

RSJ will not be having any special tie-ups for accommodation and travel arrangements for international delegates. The registration process will also be announced shortly.
