MUMBAI: “Mumbai is so unsafe, it’s scary to another level.. I am absolutely frustrated with the men in this country.. Here this out, it is ridiculous” (sic). That is how VJ turned actress Rhea Chakraborty went on to describe the horrific incident of getting groped by an unidentified man. She has filed a FIR at Khar police station.
The incident took place in her building on 18 March. She tweeted, “I just got groped by a very well dressed man who casually walks into my building in broad daylight, with two watchmen chilling in the building.” She was out around 5 pm when the incident occured.
After she filed an FIR, Chakraborty wrote, “Watching CCTV footage., I won’t let this go.” She feels lucky that she took martial classes and she managed to kick the man “real hard”.
There were tweets asking about her well-being and she assured her followers that she was fine but she made it a point to raise the question on the safety of women through her tweets.
Chakraborty started her television journey in 2009 through MTV India’s reality show Teen Diva and had been praised for her role in ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’. She has also hosted MTV’s shows namely Pepsi MTV Wassup, TicTac College Beat and MTV Gone in 60 seconds. Her next Bollywood film is Sonali Cable which will release this year.
