MUMBAI: The UPA government has announced the appointment of journalist and author Mrinal Pande as Prasar Bharati chairperson.
Pande will replace Arun Bhatnagar, whose resignation was accepted by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry last month.
Pande’s term is valid till 30 April 2011.
Bhatnagar had resigned from the post in May 2009 but the government accepted the resignation on 18 December. The post was lying vacant since then. At present, Prasar Bharati is managed by CEO BS Lalli.
Daughter of famous Hindi novelist Shivani, Pande was until recently chief editor of Hindi daily Hindustan, where she was working for nine years. Earlier she had worked as editor of the women’s magazine Vama.
