MUMBAI: The solo experiment for Monica Dogra has received some rave reviews and the effort has now extended to newer challenges and collaboration for Monica Dogra. The versatile sensation moves closer in her aspiration to become a truly ‘international’ artist with her newest composition. Monica’s music has crossed boundaries and has reached people across the globe. This time, the songwriter finds sonic help from the UK.
Recently the artist went to DJ school at the London Sound Academy and has already started DJing at popular parties around the world. Presently in the US, Monica recorded for a UK based label release at the Sweet Sound Studios in Soho, where she collaborated with popular producer D-Code and his brother Psylence. Head Producer with Shiva Soundsystem, D-Code became a popular name is the UK by virtue of his radio show on BBC RADIO ONE alongside Shiva Soundsystem founder, Nerm. On the leading edge of Asia’s electronic music scene, D-Code began making a name for himself in 2003 before making waves with his live band project Driving Lolita touring India and playing the NH7 festival.
Dogra is aware of her popularity in markets with impressive presence of Indian origins and the success through Shaa’ir n Func has allowed her to create an identity that reflects with versatility and it’d be interesting to notice how Dogra’s energetic vocals would blend with D-Code’s electronic sounds. Surely, the collaboration would not produce out-of-the-box results but the effort seems to be only the start to Dogra’s broader plans.
