MUMBAI: “Ta Chuma is not just restricted to one zone or one kind of audience it has a very universal appeal,” says Tulsi Kumar when asked about her new song Ta Chuma. The song arranged by Aditya Dev is a real melodious track and will make you fall for it. On hearing the beats, you would just want to dance and celebrate and that’s what Ta Chuma means.

Tulsi Kumar has sung the song along with Jubin Nautiyal. The vibe that you see between Jubin Nautiyal and Tulsi is to look for in the song. “We had a great time. It’s a good thing that folk music is getting a platform because folk music actually constitutes the roots of our culture and that comes very naturally. The song will also give you that vibe. Jubin Nautiyal has his roots in the mountains as he is a pahadi himself. He was the one who came ahead for this concept,” Tulsi reveals.
On her experience of working with Jubin, Kumar adds, “I have met Jubin very recently and he is a wonderful human being. He has a beautiful, soulful voice. Jubin himself has said that my voice has that little Indian earthliness. It was great working with him.”
She further says, “We have such melodious, whether Punjabi folk or Rajasthani folk, we all know about them, but never thought of doing something with it. Electric Folk series introduced by T-Series will have a Punjabi folk that is already, Himachali folk that is out. This is a Garhwali folk.”
T-Series’ very own Electro Folk series in which there would be many artists, who will be performing. Ta Chuma was the second video where Tulsi Kumar and Jubin Nautiyal played some bang on tunes. The first track Chamba, performed by Neha Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar was an absolute stunner. “In the upcoming episodes, there will be many of some folk fusions between Hindi and folk music. So I think this is a treat to your ears. It’s something very new. Not just the audiences of Garhwali would hear Ta Chuma, but also it’s going to be played everywhere and universally. It’s going to be hummed and enjoyed by people,” said Tulsi Kumar.
While Ta Chuma is receiving an immense amount of love, to which we can witness the humongous response the song is getting. On this, Tulsi Kumar exclaims, “We are receiving a massive amount of love, on Instagram, Twitter, it really overwhelms me. This music has such a strong connection with people and they are very proud that the folk song has been brought on such a kind of a platform.”
Ta Chuma has an electric version to it also. On being asked, how this idea did clicked her about mixing the traditional folk version, Tulsi says, “Jubin approached me with this concept and I really liked the idea. Fusing the folk and the electric bit was already in talks. Jubin Nautiyal brought the whole idea and it jelled pretty well. Mixing of electro music with folk music has brought universality and everyone is connecting to it because the music is very ‘today’ and the folk tunes are there forever. So when you get great music along with what is there within your system, it’s bound to click.”
“Ta Chuma is all about enjoying so that’s what we are doing and what comes across in the video as well,” Kumar says.
On her plans about association in Bollywood films, she reveals, “I am focusing on creating music for more films, playback in a lot of Bollywood films. We are coming up with another track. I have two songs in the film, Marjaavaan and they will be releasing soon. There is alsoone track in the film Luka Chupa.”
