MUMBAI: Bollywood’s known singers Mika Singh and Shibani Kashyap who also happen to be good friends will soon be seen collaborating for a song. This will be a recreation for Mika Singh’s YouTube project ‘Old is Gold’.
“I am very excited about the next which is with Old is Gold and a duet with Mika. The song is Yeh Kya Jagah Hain Dosto from Umrao Jaan. The song is expected to be out in a month or two,” said Shibani Kashyap.
The antara of this song has been re-written by Shibani and the music given by Ravi Pawar will give a loungy feel to the song. Shibani has also directed the guitars for the song.

The singer came up with a recreated song with Old is Gold, Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh, one of the most loved melodies of the 60’s era. The song is not created with a modern touch which it has been given a jazzy feel. To this she said, “This is my zone kind of a song. I love jazz and I like to jazz up old melodies because I see those old songs somewhere blend into jazz beautifully and it comes to me very naturally.”
“Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh is a very filmy kind of song giving the black and white feel. I just thought that there should be a saxophone and a piano in this song which will be give a different interpretation to the song,” she further added.

On asking Shibani about collaborating with Old is Gold for the song, she said “I was planning on to do a music video and the rights of this song are with Saregama. Mika is a very close friend and I pitched this idea to him, he loved it and was ready to feature it for his project as it rightly fitted with the idea of recreating melodies.”
The music to this song was live and organic. Shibani loved working with the team and she took a moment to credit every person involved in creating this song.
“Raghav Vaghav the arranger of the music, Pawan – based in NewYork, is a highly trained jazz saxophone player, Lennart Altgenung is on the piano and he belongs from The Big Band Theory in Austria. Hey all have done a great job with the song,” she ended.
