Melody remains for long unlike dance numbers: Jeet Gangulli

MUMBAI: Melodious tracks have been missed for a while in Bollywood but it has made a beautiful comeback with Aashiqui 2 which has a range of romantic, sad and joyous tracks put in various sounds. Jeet Gangulli, Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari are the music composers who have delivered the soulful composition, trying to meet the standards of the original blockbuster.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Gangulli says, “The story is based on a musician and I can relate with it. Bhatt Sahab (Mahesh Bhatt) and Mukeshji have good hear to music. I have composed the music after understanding the film. I have used different melodies and lyrically it has been made around the script of the story.”

Gangulli has earlier composed for Raaz 2, sequel of Raaz. “Everyone is asking me the same question if Aashiqui 2 was a big challenge but the truth is that composing music for every film is a challenge. It is important to work hard be it original film or a sequel,” Gangulli shares.

Commenting on the dance number tracks, he adds, “Aashiqui 2 film doesn’t have any item song and where there is no need then why to put it. Item songs should not be forced and should be included only if needed. In such a film where will you put item songs. Melody is there and it remains for long unlike dance numbers.”

He further adds, “Dance numbers should be there but it depends on the script of the film and ultimately it is the director’s call.”
