MUMBAI: Actor Manisha Koirala becomes the latest Bollywood celebrity to join the bandwagon of actors venturing into singing. The 90s star will sing for a composition penned by the nation’s ‘King of Pop’ Bappi Lahiri.
The collaboration between Manisha Koirala and Bappi Lahiri is the composer’s ode to the actor’s successful recovery from ovarian cancer and the courage she exhibited. The song will be sung in two languages – Nepali and Hindi – and Koirala and Lahiri will share the vocals.
Through his social media accounts, the 63-year-old music composer posted images of the Kathmandu-born actor in the studio with the caption “Our favourite manisha koirala.. Amazing human being …Godbless !!!”

Known for showing respect to musicians and artists through his tribute songs, Koirala’s cancer survival becomes Lahiri’s latest act of creative empathy.
The 45-year-old actor was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012, and the recovery that took three years will now be a musical piece. Lahiri and Koirala first appeared together in a project for the 1991 released movie ‘First Love Letter’.
The release date for the song has not been revealed, however, the return of the ‘Gupt’ actor will be a welcome development.
