MUMBAI: Not only through his stand-up acts and satirical approaches has Varun Grover expressed his intent to address important issues, the 26-year old lyricist-writer has now decided to donate the entire National award cash-prize to the distraught farmers in Maharashtra.
The multifaceted artist announced through his personal social media account about donating Rs. 50,000 towards the growing concern issue revolving around the farmers in Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, the drought has worsened over the years and Grover stepped up to address the issue in the noblest of ways.

‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’, written by Varun Grover and sung by Monali Thakur, won the National Award for the composition. Instead of extensively celebrating the achievement, Grover showed the genuine philanthropic side of him with the gesture. Grover would not be the only artist to do so. Director of Masaan – Neeraj Ghaywan – joins Grover for the cause by donating the entire National Award prize money (received for Masaan) to the cause. Joining Grover and Ghaywan for the effort is Only Much Louder’s founder Vijay Nair.
Grover – as announced on his Facebook post – would continue to look for the ideal way of providing the collected amount of money. Neither the amount nor the initiative can be underwhelmed considering how alarming the situation has become, and the writer’s attempt to help in his capacity would only influence several others.
