MUMBAI: PK Mishra, the lyricist of the catchy number, â€?Dil Hai Chhota Sa, Choti Si Aasha’ and â€?Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai’ from Roja, passed away on Wednesday at a city hospital in Chennai.
Mishra was admitted in a Chennai hospital’s intensive care unit on December 19 for a mutli-organ dysfunction. The 65 year old lyricist expired on Wednesday at 11.45 am and is survived by his wife and two sons.
In the 1990s when a number of Tamil films were being remade in Hindi, Rajasthan-born Mishra wrote lyrics for several popular Hindi numbers. Penning for tracks like â€?Choti si aasha’ and â€?Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai’, Mishra teamed up with Rahman in many such movies like Roja in 1993.
Mishra has also worked with Ilayaraja and Karthik Raja, and his list of films include Hindusthani’, Hamse Hai Muqabala’, Thalapathi, My Brother Nikhil, Saza-e-Kalapani’, Duniya Dil Walonki’, Viswa Vidhata’, Love Birds and the most recent, Mukhbiir.
