MUMBAI: After a short hiatus, Boxout Wednesdays, the club night residency of New Delhi-based community radio boxout.fm, returns for its fifth year at a brand new location – Auro Kitchen & Bar. Since March 2017, Boxout Wednesdays has been known for curating forward-thinking sounds from across the country and the world every week.
The first international guest to kickstart this year’s residency is David Marston hailing from the vibrant Caribbean island of Jamaica. A producer, DJ and guitarist, David’s approach to music is multifaceted and works to achieve a sound that is a fusion of various genres – house, soul disco, jazz, reggae, dub & more.
The lineup also includes local favorites SODHI, thegreybox and Gauriwho. A bass music DJ who blurs lines between grime, hip-hop, afrobeats and dancehall, SODHI’s sets are a no-holds-barred blend of traditional soundsystem music and contemporary inner city sounds. thegreybox is truly a digital nomad who is constantly digging virtual crates to collect sonic gems. Producer and selector alike, thegreybox brings with him the amalgamation of the classic and the edgy. Inspired by the textures and patterns of nature, Gauriwho brings in a feeling of oneness to the dance floor. Spanning multiple upbeat and progressive genres, she takes her listeners on an organic adventure through the mind, body and soul.
