MUMBAI: Re-enacting LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock’ experience, ace hip-hop artiste DJ Lucky Lou succeeded in enthralling his aficionadas in India. The hip-hop DJ performed at the fifth edition of ‘Tuborg Zero Vh1 Hip Hop Hustle’ across three cities- Hyderabad (4 July), Delhi (6 July) and Pune (7 July).
Speaking about his maiden tour experience, DJ Lucky Lou said, “Performing in India was epic. There was so much of energy within Indians that it was fun to party all night long. Indian people are musical they know how to party and most of all they love to party. To play for such audience is always overwhelming and enduring.”
In his three-day tour across the country, the artiste took the hip-hop fans by storm with his high energy show. Stating that he is very impressed with the feedback from Indians and the culture the musician said that he is looking forward to come back more often. Lou expressed, “The one thing I would never forget is the awesome sensation that I felt the moment audience raised their hand to welcome me and my music. I don’t know much about Indian music but I’ve got to meet some cool DJs and I would like to learn about the musical cultures here and the subcultures as well.”
The DJ has performed with a list of hip-hop’s heavyweights, including Jay-Z, P Diddy, TI and the Black Eyed Peas. The artiste tasted success with his recent collaboration with American electro pop group LMFAO who are known for their crowd pleasing ability.
Sharing about his collaboration with the party rockers, he said, “I have played with various artistes but had greatest fun of my life while performing with LMFAO. They are the most revolutionary and greatest band in the world. When it comes to performing, they are the most down to earth and realistic artistes. We know and understand only one thing party hard and rock harder. I always miss those guys and the crazy times we have everywhere. It is blessing to perform with them and even people love them for their revolutionary music.”
The party-rocking DJ who was inspired into music by his father, began his career in early 90’s and has played in several events including Grammy Awards, Sundance Film Festival, the Winter Olympics and the National Democratic Convention. Known as one of LA’s hottest DJ’s, he boasts diverse musical palette including electro-house, dance music, 80’s synthpop, funk and hip-hop.
“My father was into music, it was from him that I picked up the love for music. I started spinning when I was 11; I played cassettes, singles and vinyl. I worked with few labels but I always wanted to play around with music from different genres, so I guess that’s what got me interested into Djing,” he asserted.
The DJ aims to produce revolutionary music and accepts the same from the upcoming artistes. “In order to be successful in the music industry one has to be revolutionary and should be able to think out of the box. The artistes should be able to show their mettle and keep innovating their music without getting mediocre.”
After captivating Indians, DJ Lucky Lou is all set to take Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia by storm with his part-rock concerts.
