The new formula for success is defined by reality shows on Hindi GEC’s as the television rating points (TRPs) are now determined on the success of these shows. Joining the bandwagon, Life OK is all set to launch a reality series titled ‘Hindustan ke Hunarbaaz’.
While majority of the reality shows feature a competitive spirit amongst contestants, the kid based show will encourage music, singing amongst other talents in a non-compettitive environment. The channel aims to reach out to millions of parents across the country to create awareness about the unwanted pressures children face today.
In a short discussion with Radioandmusic.com’s Chandni Mathur, Life OK general manager Ajit Thakur talks about the concept of the show and how it differentiates them from the herd.
Excerpts:
Tell us something about the reality show Hindustan ke Hunarbaaz.
Life OK’s new launch is a non-competitive TV reality series that focuses only on showcasing varied talents of children from across India. The kids talent show is a non competitive, no ‘rona dhona’ show that concentrates on showcasing hidden talents of the kids reiterating the philosophy that ‘Har Baccha Hain Khaas’. We have also roped in cool gurus in the form of bollywood actress Sonali Bendre and renowned choreographer Terence Lewis will be seen mentoring the kids rather than evaluating them.
How did you come up with this differentiated concept?
Through consumer insights, we have come to believe that there is a lot of unnecessary pressure on children these days. Adding to it, competitive shows put unnecessary pressure and stress on kids that hampers their self confidence and thought process. The show encourages the kids to project their hidden talents and gives impetus on the holistic development of the kid.
Reality show is the new success formula on TV. Is this your formula for success?
The show aims to touch upon talents from across the country. We have explored talents of over 400 children. For us, that is success.
What is the format of the show? Elaborate.
The reality TV series will go on-air from 22 October and will feature more than 400 kids across India exhibiting varied forms of talents ranging from singing, dancing, gymnastics, music and more. Each episode will feature five kids and their unique talent. The weekday show will be mentored by Sonali Bendre and Terence Lewis and will air from Monday to Friday at 7pm.
Why did you choose Sonali Bendre and Terence Lewis for this initiative?
Sonali Bendre, being a mother of a seven year old recognizes the importance of a zero pressure upbringing. As a mentor Sonali is the perfect choice who would understand what kids go through under such situations and mentor them accordingly. Terence, on the other hand is extremely friendly and knows how to motivate and encourage children. He can easily relate to kids and connect with them to help them develop and hone their skills accordingly.
