New Delhi: The launch of ‘Raagam’, a 24×7 channel by All India Radio, will be covered live by DD Bharati and DD Chandana tomorrow.
The telecast of the launch by Prasar Bharati Chairman Dr A Suryaprakash from Bengaluru will be from 6.00 pm.
The channel exclusively devoted to classical music will be streamed live through direct-to-home platform Freedish and the website allindiaradio.gov.in, apart from the mobile app of AIR for Windows, Android and iPhone (Ios) users.

This is an indigenous effort by AIR to get connected to Indians in and outside the country who have a strong bond with classical Hindustani or Carnatic music.
The FM Channel will be beamed from Bengaluru and fulfils a long-felt need of classical music lovers.
Akashvani Bengaluru already has the channel ‘Amrithavarshini’ dedicated to classical channel and Tiruchirapalli has a similar channel with the name ‘Raagam’.
Earlier, AIR DG F Shehryar told radioandmusic.com that the channel will depend on its rich repository of recordings from old masters as well as contemporary celebrities, preserved in AIR archives.
Post independence and post merger of the princely states, AIR became the main patron of Indian classical music and artistes. Classical music forms a substantial part of daily programme menu of AIR stations. National programmes featuring classical music like Ravivaariya Sangeet Sabha are very popular. For many decades AIR has been organizing Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan – a premiere destination for connoisseurs of classical music in India.
