Lady Gaga takes huge leap to Hollywood; offered $4.8 mn for ‘Zoolander 2’

MUMBAI: After mesmerizing music aficionados across the globe, Paparazzi Queen Lady Gaga is all set to take a huge leap to Hollywood. The style diva has been offered $4.8 mn by Ben Stiller to star in a sequel of ‘Zoolander’, as per reports.

The ‘Poker Face’ hit maker has been approached by the actor- producer to play the love interest of former model rivals Derek Zoolander (Ben) and Hansel McDonald (Owen Wilson) in a follow-up to the cult comedy film.

The producer has also selected Kate Moss, Kate Upton, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima as candidates for the role, but Wilson had revealed back in December 2010 that Gaga would be the ideal choice.

Wilson told a daily that Gaga has to be in it. “The movie will happen soon. I just saw Ben and I think that people will be happy with some of this new stuff we have.”

Stiller also revealed the new plot recently. He said, “It’s 10 years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel 10 years later.” The comedy flick is scheduled to start early next year.

The original version of American comedy was released in 2001 and was directed by Ben Stiller. The film had elements from a pair of short films directed by Russell Bates and written by Drake Sather and Stiller for the VH1 Fashion Awards television specials in 1996 and 1997. The short films and the film itself featured a dimwitted male model named Derek Zoolander (a play on the name of Dutch model Mark Vanderloo), played by Stiller. The film involved Zoolander becoming a pawn in a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia by corrupt fashion executives.
