Koreans win Sutasi 2009

MUMBAI: The whirlwind journey for the 37 bands, solo artists and songwriters from across Asia came to an end with announcement of the grand final winners. The title was taken by two South Korean artistes Biuret and Peejay (songwriting category) as the Overall Winners of Sutasi, 2009.

The winning finalists will share over one million US dollars in cash and prizes including the opportunity to co-write with successful & international songwriters, record an album with commercially successful producers, global marketing and promotion, and the star role in a music video for worldwide release. Besides, Asia Sounds will be organising several live international shows for Biuret and Peejay over the next twelve months.

The first live International show will be at the One Movement For Music Festival, Perth Australia in October 2009, where Biuret will appear alongside a stellar line up of international acts. One Movement for Music Perth (OMFM) has firmly positioned itself as the most important music industry event in the Southern Hemisphere. A pioneering music industry conference and showcasing event, the OMFM will be held during October 16 – 18.

Among the Indian bands/ solo artistes who made it to the finals were Nikhil D’Souza (Mumbai), Jalebee Cartel (Delhi) and Cassini’s Division (Kolkata). The Grand Finalists were judged by a panel of internationally renowned music industry professionals, together with telephone and internet voting from audiences across Asia. Sutasi was broadcast throughout India in a 7-episode television series on Zee Caf?© in June, 2009.
