MUMBAI: The soul of Panjim finds voice in Moji Khuxalkai, a lilting new Konkani song from the film Mog Asum, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Agnelo Angelo Braganza.
A lyrical ode to the city, Moji Khuxalkai (meaning My Happiness) captures the charm, beauty, and the historical elegance of a city once defined by its pure love and refined simplicity—now caught in the crosscurrents of unplanned development and eroding heritage.
Far more than a song, it is a homecoming. Through poetic verses and evocative imagery —dancing sunlight on the Mandovi, golden sands of Miramar, the captivating old-world charm of Latin Quarter —Moji Khuxalkai resurrects a Panjim lovingly remembered as “Ponje” by locals: a place of grace, harmony and joy.

Director Braganza shares: “This song is an ode to my city of Ponje—a riverside capital, tranquil, diverse and laidback. A fabric of democratic-minded citizens. It gave me everything: my learnings, my friends, my connection with nature – colour, generosity, her delicacies. This is my way of saying thank you—Merci, Gracias, Obrigado”
Yet, alongside love, there is lament. “The beauty that was, is now been buried under concrete chaos, toxic unchecked tourism and moral erosion—on a collision course with irreversible loss. This song is both celebration and warning. A reminder of what Ponje was—and what it must not become.”
The title Moji Khuxalkai reflects the emotional richness Panjim offers its people—and the danger of forgetting its silent pleas.
Composer Myron Estibeiro adds, “The song is a tribute to Panjim—to her timeless beauty and her grace. The lyrics echo the city’s spirit and mirror the admiration between two people.”
Sung by Venizia Dias and Estibeiro, Moji Khuxalkai is a love letter to Panjim—its past, its present, and a hope for its future.
