MUMBAI: Fever FM has appointment Kiran Murthi as Mumbai station head. At Fever, Murthi, who took over on 15 February, will look after the overall profitability of the station along with programming, sales and marketing and brand building.
The position of the Mumbai station head was vacant for some time and Fever national marketing head and Delhi station head Neeraj Chaturvedi was overlooking the functioning of the station.
The appointment is Murthi’s debut in the radio sector. He has earlier worked for brands like Infosys Technologies, Cadbury India, Johnson and Johnson and Philips India. His last stint was at Go Mumbai where Murthi was the Head of Marketing & Business Development. His prior work experience includes working with start ups like mChek where he was responsible for the complete business and AOL where he headed marketing function for the India team.
Commenting on his appointment Murthi said, “I am still to pick up the threads of the trade since I am new to the sector. I would be directing the Mumbai station’s business.”
At Fever, Murthi will be reporting to Fever FM Business Head S Keerthivasan.
Talking about the appointment Neeraj Chaturvedi said, “With Kiran Murthi joining as the station head of Mumbai there would be someone to look after the overall working of the station which in turn will make a big difference in our ratings as well. We are sure to notch up the listenership charts. Though he is new to the sector his understanding of business acumen is very good which is the demand of the job. We are sure he would learn the ropes soon.”
The station which was once in the top three slots, has slipped to the sixth position according to the RAM data. Chaturvedi comments, “There is a very slight difference in the third to sixth position. We lag behind with a very minor percentage which we shall cover up soon. We had no issues with our positioning or talent we just need to build our salience.” He further added, “We were a little conservative in promoting ourselves last year but this year we plan to be more aggressive in our approach.”
The station has also made a host of other appointments. It has appointed Neeraj Saraswat as its Kolkata station head last month. He takes over from Pralay Bakshi who had put in his papers in October 2009. Saurabh Misra has joined Fever Delhi as its regional sales head, North. The station has also roped in a new RJ for its Delhi station though the slot is undecided, revealed Chaturvedi.
