MUMBAI: Two of the most talented music producers and DJs from India, Kimera, and Abbas K released their debut single ‘Fight For Ya’ on the world’s #1 DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s label, Generation Smash.
‘Fight For Ya’ is about an emotional journey to fight for someone that you truly love in any capacity and simply do anything to be with them. It articulates the feeling of doing your best and having no regrets even if things don’t work out. It’s a record that’s been three years in the making and with each revision, it sounded different. The final version features a sweet blend of pop and dance music that accentuates the heartfelt female vocals.
On releasing his debut single on Generation Smash, Kimera said “As an upcoming artist in the music circuit and having your song signed to a label curated by the world’s #1 DJs is like a dream come true! It still feels surreal because Abbas and I have been working on this for around three years, and it got rejected by 13 labels before finding its home at Generation Smash. Being able to put out my debut track on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s label is by far one of the best things that have ever happened in my life!”

“Fight For Ya’ is about my struggle and my journey as an artist; it’s about me fighting for myself, my dreams, and finding a new purpose in life. We have received appreciation and rejection on the same song by multiple people. After so many versions and countless revisions, this song is, at last, seeing the daylight and I couldn’t be happier because we never gave up. This song to me is a stepping stone to where I want to be and even if I don’t make it, I have no regrets ’cause I can’t say that I didn’t fight for myself”, added Kimera.
Abbas Kagalwala, who goes by the name of Abbas K is a 22-year-old artist who pours equal amounts of his heart and creativity into live performances as well as original productions. He has had the opportunity to support the likes of Jay Sean, and Vini Vici during their India tours.
“I recall tweeting about how excited I was for Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike performing in India back in 2013. I have followed all their releases from day 1 and having ‘Fight For Ya’ signed to their label is a fantasy fulfilled! It is more than just a song, it’s an emotion, and it is for everyone out there who is in a battle with either themselves or someone they love. Give it time, it will get better,” said Abbas K.
Kimera and Abbas K also worked on the background score of the short film, ‘Carbon’, featuring Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, which was awarded the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award under the best short film category. It has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube and was showcased as part of a special event with a host of Indian and International celebrities, and delegates of the Global Citizen Foundation and the UN in attendance.
