MUMBAI: Playback singer and Sufi exponent Kavita Seth has released her seventh album ‘Ek Din’.
Composed by Seth, the studio album consists of nine tracks with lyrics penned by Jagadish Prakash. “I am happy to launch the album after working on it for three-four years. It is poetically very strong and listeners will connect with the poetry which I find inspirational. We have used the best musicians and engineers to bring out the album,” she said.
Among the nine tracks, Seth identifies most with the title track ‘Ek Din’ which was a biography of her life in four minutes. The album has a pleasant, mellow feel and lends itself to easy listening. The tune and the lyrics- about how precious every fleeting moment of our lives is- brings out the Sufism that is the hallmark of Seth’s solo works.
The album on Universal Music India will be promoted nationwide physically and digitally. As promotions, Seth will also release a video of the title track.
“I get inspired by artists like Abida Praveen, Nusarat Fateh Ali Khan and Jagjit Singh and try and learn from them. I am a little nervous but I’m confident it will do well; I gave my 100 per cent. This is an album for lovers of poetry and will last a long time,” she said.
Universal Music – India / SAARC managing director Devraj Sanyal said, “We are privileged to have an artiste of the caliber of Kavita Seth with us at Universal Music. She’s one of the most respected names in the music fraternity and her legion of fans simply adore her. Her inimitable and distinguished voice sets her apart and makes her truly unique. And ‘Ek Din’ is to me her best work till date. It’s an album straight from her heart and her most personal album filled with lilting melodies and poetry. We will put all our might behind this release to ensure that it reaches out far and wide to her fans in India and around the world.”
