MUMBAI: Emerging as the top winner on the music front, pop singer Katy Perry swept the 39th annual People’s Choice awards with four wins in the music categories.
Perry bagged awards for ‘Favourite Female Artiste’, ‘Favourite Pop Artiste’, ‘Favourite Music Video (Part of Me)’ and ‘Favourite Music Fan Following – Katy Cats’.
British boy band One Direction picked up two awards for ‘Favourite Song – What Makes you Beautiful’ and ‘Favourite Album – Up All Night’. Other music winners of the night included Jason Mraz (Favourite Male artiste), Nicki Minaj (Favourite Hip-Hop artiste), Rihanna (Favourite R&B artiste), Taylor Swift (Favourite Country artiste), Maroon 5 (Favourite Band), The Wanted (Favourite Breakout artiste) and Christina Aguilera (People’s Voice).
The awards were hosted by actress Kaley Cuoco at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and witnessed performances by Christina Aguilera, Jason Aldean and Alicia Keys amongst others.
The People’s Choice award winners are selected on the basis of fan voting across various categories spanning music, movies and television. A record-breaking 475 million votes were cast for this year’s event.
