MUMBAI: Hello FM is following up on the success of its first-ever region-centric corporate social responsibility initiative Petralthaan Pillaiya of 2009. It has joined hands yet again with its partner from Petralthaan Pillaiya, PSI (Population Services International), and TANSACS (Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society), to garner funds for the aid of HIV positive kids. Movie superstars Kamal Hassan and Madhavan, along with Trisha and Ramesh Aravind, have come forward to extend their support for the cause. All these stars are reaching out to Hello FM listeners by participating in different shows.
Through this initiative, Hello FM, PSI and TANSACS propose to provide the aforementioned benefits to around 7,000 children who are either orphan or vulnerable.
It will be recalled that in 2009, Petralthaan Pillaiya, which had been launched with the objective of providing medical insurance to HIV-positive children in Tamil Nadu, had managed to garner Rs 23 lakhs from around 5,000 contributors. The amount had been used to provide medical insurance to 2,500 HIV-positive children.
Given the success of the campaign, which was exclusively delivered by Hello FM as one of the founding partners, TANSACS (Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society) had approached PSI and Hello FM to be part of the activity this time around, and extend education and nutrition assistance to the HIV positive kids besides medical insurance.
Urging the media to join the campaign, actor Kamal Hassan said he had never endorsed any products despite getting numerous offers. “But I am willing to endorse products and the proceeds from my endorsement will go for several noble causes, like the one for children living with HIV. I will pledge the entire amount that I get through such endorsements for the welfare of these children,… he said.
Speaking about this initiative, Rajeev Nambiar, President & CEO, Hello FM said, Last year we received a total of 5,000 responses from people across the country for this initiative. This year, surprisingly, in a matter of a week’s time, we have already received as many as 4,000 responses from our listeners. We are also moved by the tremendous response from overseas markets such as Dubai, Malaysia, UK, USA and several other countries for this campaign through our podcast on Hello FM website. Hello FM is committed to support this cause year on year….
