MUMBAI: From commanding the stage with icons like Arijit Singh and Nikita Gandhi to stepping into the spotlight with his own independent release, guitarist and audio producer John Paul is carving out a distinct path in the Indian music scene.
Reflecting on his journey so far, John shares how collaborations have shaped him:
“I have always learned something or the other by playing with every artist I’ve worked with. Everyone has played a very important part in my life and influenced me in some way. I’m glad I’m surrounded by such amazing artists and continue to grow mutually.”
His latest track, which just dropped, carries a unique story of evolution. What started as a playful spark drawn from a Looney Tunes cartoon transformed into something deeper.
“The song was originally inspired from a Looney Tunes cartoon and later evolved into something much deeper—yet it still carries a lighter mood. Listeners can expect a surge of happiness, while also feeling the depth underneath the song. The blend of both West and East brings out a completely new feeling.”
As both a skilled guitarist and an audio producer, John constantly balances creativity and technicality. But where does he feel most at home?
“I definitely feel more connected when I play on stage. But I love producing as well, so I maintain a good balance by dividing my workflow between these two things throughout the year.”
Looking ahead, John has his sights set on unfulfilled dreams and global horizons.
“One of my unfulfilled desires still remains the urge to have played with the great Zakir Hussain. I’m now looking forward to crossing borders, collaborating with international artists, and performing at the greatest music festivals across the world. I want to spread my music and make more music with new musicians.”
With passion, humility, and ambition fueling his journey, John Paul is not just making music—he’s shaping a sound that bridges cultures and connects hearts.
