Jessie J quits The Voice for career

MUMBAI: Pop singer Jessie J has left The Voice UK singing competition as coach to focus on her singing career and upcoming tour.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time on The Voice and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show,” the 25-year-old singer tweeted on Friday 5 July.

The BBC which telecasts the show didn’t immediately address the future of the three other coaches on the singing competition — will.i.am, Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue report said.

The Voice has been losing out to Simon Cowell’s  “Britain’s Got Talent” on ITV for the whole season.

The show also came under criticism after series I winner was 29-year-old Leanne Mitchell’s debut album sold fewer than during its first week on sale.

The BBC didn’t immediately address the future of the three other coaches on the singing competition — will.i.am, Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue.

Jessie (real name Jessica Ellen Cornish), postponed a world tour earlier this year as she was unable to finish her second album in time.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time on The Voice but I can’t wait to promote my new record and that has to take priority. I shall be keeping a very close eye on series three, showing my support in every way I can, and really hope that in some way I can be part of the show,” the ‘Price Tag’ singer tweeted.

Ex-The X Factor star Cheryl Cole and singer Rita Ora are already speculated to replace Jessie J.
