MUMBAI: Jason Isbell is leading the nominations with four nods at the Americana Music Association awards this year.
Isbell has received nominations in categories like Album of the Year (Here We Rest), Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Alabama Pines) and Duo/Group of the Year with The 400 Unit. Gillian Welch followed up with three nods for Album of the Year (The Harrow & The Harvest), Artist of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year with Dave Rawlings.
The nominees were announced by John C Reilly at an event held in Los Angeles. The event also featured performances by Lucinda Williams and Shelby Lynne.
Hosted by Jim Lauderdale and Buddy Miller, the award ceremony will take place on 12 September at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The ceremony will be followed by the Americana Music Festival and conference on 15 September.
The association honours the roots of American music and its tapestry of influences reflected by the artistes.
