MUMBAI: Within two months of signing for Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records label, British singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson has topped the UK album chart with his self-titled album. The 39-year-old’s first major release, which is the label’s first signing, replaced Faithless’s ‘Faithless 2.0’ for the number one spot- with the latter slipping out of top 10 in its second week.

Lawson is not the only new entry in the top 10 albums chart. 2014 Brit Award nominee John Newman’s sophomore album ‘Revolve’ enters the chart at number three, sitting below Sheeran’s ‘X’, which completes its 70th consecutive week. ‘Revolve’ replaces Jess Glynne’s ‘I Cry When I Laugh’, knocking the 26-year-old’s debut effort one place down. Another new arrival is Peter Andre’s latest album ‘Come Fly With Me’, taking the artist’s latest work to number five.

The top 10 albums chart continue with the arrivals of American pop singer- Demi Lovato’s ‘Confident’ at number six, English alt-rock band- Nothing But Thieves’ self-titled album, and Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘Electronica -1- The Time Machine’ at seven and eight, respectively. Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ slips three places to number nine, while The Weeknd’s ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’ moves down two places, rounding up the top 10 albums. After spending four weeks in the top 10, David Gilmour’s ‘Rattle That Lock’ finishes 14th in its fifth week, three spots above Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’, which completes 52 weeks on the chart.
