Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ voted top online video

MUMBAI: Deceased popstar Michael Jackson’s popular video Thriller has been voted the most influential in history. The 14-minute mini movie left behind Queen, Johnny Cash and Peter Gabriel in the race to be voted as the most groundbreaking video.

More than 1,000 people took part in the MySpace poll, who selected from a shortlist of 20 videos selected by music and entertainment critics.

Thriller was directed by filmmaker John Landis who co-wrote the screenplay with the late Jackson. It is widely seen as taking pop promos into new areas, blending music videos with film-making.

The song garnered 15.2 per cent of the votes, ahead of Here It Goes Again, the 2006 internet hit featuring OK Go dancing on treadmills which earned 11.7 per cent. Britney Spears song ‘Baby One More Time’ came in third, followed by A-Ha’s part-animated ‘Take On Me’.
