‘Jab Tak hai Jaan’ incomplete song called off

MUMBAI: With the sudden demise of movie mogul Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan has confirmed that the shooting for the incomplete song in his upcoming film ‘Jab Tak hai Jaan’ has been called off.

A portion of the song in Chopra’s last directorial venture was scheduled to be shot in the picturesque locales of Switzerland, also stated to be as the late mogul’s favourite location. But with the film crew not willing to interfere with the signature style of the late filmmaker, the unit has cancelled the shooting of the last song of the movie.

The movie will now purely be Chopra’s and since the song has been recorded, it will now be played in the background using some scenes of what Chopra had already shot.

Khan at an event said, “Just a minute and a half of the song was left. He (Chopra) wanted to do it in Switzerland. We don`t have the heart to shoot that part now. We will make it impure if we had to shoot it. The movie is ready for release. Yash ji had finished editing and the background mix was happening. The film was locked by Yash ji. The film which you will see has been entirely made by Yash Chopra.”

“It is little bit sad that we did not get to shoot it (the song). We had decided …zeroed in on what I would be wearing …as in which sari out of the 12 designed. I remember him (Yash Chopra) saying it will be like a party when we shoot the sequence of the song in Switzerland,” Katrina said at a press conference organised in connection with the film.

There have been a lot of speculations around the completion of the shooting for the last song and reports had suggested that it could be either Chopra’s elder son Aditya or close family friend Karan Johar.

However, Chopra’s wife Pamela and Yash Raj Studio will give a fitting farewell to the prolific director with a grand and lavish premiere of the film on 12 November. The premiere will be a celebration and a tribute to mark the filmmaker’s 50 years long career in the movie industry.

Chopra, who passed away on 21 October due to multi-organ failure, had one unfulfilled dream of evoking romance in Switzerland, a country whose scenic beauty has been the backdrop of his many films. His final shot for his last directorial was a song featuring Katrina Kaif serenading in a chiffon sari at his favourite location – the Swiss Alps.

Slated to release on 13 November, the film stars Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Inspite of the buzz surrounding the film already, Khan claims he is not affected by the box office collections.

“I am not a businessman. I just feel that my films should be enjoyed by all. I have earned enough money and awards in my life, so numbers don`t matter. But you are anxious when your film is all set to release,” he said.
