MUMBAI: Music composer Arjuna Harjai may have got his first film break through ‘Titoo M.B.A (Married But Available)’, but his first film to hit the theaters was ‘Calapor’ where Harjai composed four tracks for the sound album.
Having composed about 150 jingles, the 24 year old composer said, “I started my career through advertising. It’s fun to compose jingles. In advertising, we need to convey our ideas in the matter of a few seconds,” Harjai told Radioandmusic.com.
Harjai is trained in light Hindustani vocal under his parents. “I have been approached with few more tracks but I would like to take things slow,” added Harjai. “I like to create melodious tracks influenced with western classical music and jazz. Item numbers are interesting as I have done music for films that need item number but I strongly believe that item number only has short term benefits. I would like to compose item number tracks till the time the lyrics do not cross the line,” said the singer who is also trained under the renowned singer Suresh Wadkar. He has also studied Western Classical piano till grade 8 of Trinity and also studied Audio Engineering and Music Production with school of Audio Engineering.

When asked if he would like to part of any band, he said, “I am into production of music. I love creating music through guitar, flute and other musical instruments never thought about creating or becoming part of a band. But in a long run, I would like to explore that area as well.”
For the Calapor, he composed the entire soundtrack and background score. The film was released on 2 August. The music is released on Worldwide Records.
