MUMBAI: Prasad Sashte, music producer and composer known for films like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Raabta, Dilwale, Bajrangi Bhaijan, Tubelight to name a few has recently been in news for Mulk. His two remarkable compositions in the film are Thenge Se and Khudara.
Thenge Se has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, on this Prasad Sashte said, “My special moment was recording with Sunidhi Chauhan. It was a dream come true. She was singing my song and it was a great thing for me. She has inspired me and it’s totally a different feeling. She truly handles every music genre perfectly.”

He elaborated on how he got an opportunity for Mulk, “It all started last year. Pritam Chakraborty had launched a music company called Jam8, I had a friend of mine there, he was managing the jamming. He asked me if I have any songs composed because Pritam is looking for a new composer.
“I then gave a couple of songs after which I was introduced to Anubhav Sinha Mulk director. I composed four ghazals for him and when he heard those he asked me if I could compose two songs for Mulk, to which I readily agreed. He gave me an idea about the song, I composed that and he liked it. Shakeel Azmi has written the songs. Normally these days songs are written on the tune, but I went on to compose on Shakeel Saheb’s lyrics.”
Khudara has been sung by Vishal Dadlani, on collaborating with him Sashte said, “The greatness of this song is Vishal Dadlani. When artists like Vishal sing for the composer, toh phir woh un composer ke ho jaate hai. They want to sing where the composer has put his efforts and expressed in the song.”
He further added, “Khudara was a very special song as these days we don’t get such songs. We spoke to Vishal (Dadlani) about this song and he really liked it. He said, ‘Nobody takes up such songs these days’ and he was quite happy that he got the song.”
Lastly, he stated, “If you watch the movie, the situation of the song suits the track.”
Sashte will soon be working on music composition Paltan an upcoming film.
