Infibeam launches digital music platform Indent

MUMBAI: Exploring new opportunities and aiding music labels to grow in the digital age and explore new opportunities through the medium, e-commerce firm Infibeam has launched a digital music platform ‘Indent’ providing users a wide catalogue of tracks from various labels.

The service is focused on offering technology solutions to music labels, brands and smartphone makers. The platform will enable companies and individual artists to build digital music destinations on mobiles, tablets and the web to download or stream music.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Infibeam CEO Vishal Mehta said, “The platform has been launched keeping in mind the growing music industry. With a number of different monetization opportunites being provided through Indent, it will help the music labels grow and monetize music with technology.”

While the company has already associated with Sony Music on the same, it is all set to partner with other independent and major music labels as well. The cloud based platform will provide a different customization to each label and the ability to work with multiple channels like telcos for Caller Ring Back Tone (CRBT) options and more. Moreover, the protecting rights of the repertoire will be under the label’s authority.

The downloading and purchase process will also depend on the music labels who Mehta claims aim to keep it consumer centric and user-friendly. Indent will also ensure easy billing and payment gateways for the same, and provide a destination to content owners for directly engaging with their consumers. On the other hand, the streaming is being handled by the company who has developed apps for various mobile devices across multiple operating systems.

Mehta stated, “Ours is a platform based monetization. We have different pricing schemes of the platforms and it will depend on the customization of each label. We also aim to further develop the service as more interactive, user-friendly and with real time reporting dashboards. We hope to give an ecosystem to help the music labels.”

The service will further build products for the labels to help in streaming, downloading and brand redemption.

Having recently launched the service, it has already been compared to several other digital platforms on similar lines. However, Infibeam claims to be different from other services like Flyte by allowing the content owners to provide their own music on a platform instead of working as aggregators.
