NEW DELHI: Sikkim-based rock band, â€?Girish n the Chronicles’ rocked Europe with their new composition â€?Angels’, winning the second prize in the category of â€?The Song of the Summer’ at the Suncane Skale Festival (Sunny Steps 2010) in Montenegro. A total of 26 compositions were heard.
â€?Angel’ has been composed by Girish Pradhan on lyrics by Musami Kaushbu and Girish Pradhan. It has been produced by Yogesh Pradhan and Girish Pradhan.
Dr Janice Darbari, the Consul-General for Montenegro in India, has also been honoured by the organizers of the International Music Festival in that country for encouraging new composers.Dr Darbari had been helped by the North East Cultural Zone to zero in on the Sikkim band.
Dr Darbari was selected for the special Esad Jakupovic Barba award by the organisers of the Festival for finding the voice of Sikkim and thus encouraging New Compositions, named after the founder of the SuncaneSkale festival held from 7 to 9 July.
The three-day Festival in this small European country has an International jury which consists of prominent music and video recording companies, radio and television station heads. The annual event is telecast live.
