Mumbai: Some of India’s best musicians will give a unique perspective to world’s oldest symbol, the ‘Swastika’, in an elaborate two hour musical on June 12, 2010 in Mumbai.
Founder and violinist Ratish Tagde of Perfect Octave will be presenting this thematic creation.
“In India swastika is known as auspicious symbol, however, no one knows that Swastika has been known for different meaning all over the world. There is no religion attached to this meaning, and there is no ambiguity over the meaning of these four sides,” he opines.

Tagde will be joined by music exponents like Abhijit Pohankar (Keyboards), Pt Ajay Pohankar (Vocals), Fazal Qureshi (Tabla), Chintoo Singh (Guitar) and Bichitra Mukarji (Classical Ballet).
Speaking about the concept, Tagde explains, “The four sides of Swastika are known for Love, Life, Good Luck and Light. These four ‘L’s represent the four sides of the oldest and the holiest symbol in the world, which we know today as ‘Swastika’.”
This unique musical presentation is divided into four parts. The first part will showcase the love aspect; second part will showcase the luck aspect, third will showcase life, and so on.
Interestingly, Swastika is the only symbol all over the world which is known as â€?Swastika’, and not by any other name.
“Today, the entire world and the humanity are passing through very difficult phase of unrest, inhumanity, terrorism, insanity etc. Therefore the four sides of swastika symbol need to be understood to maintain the balance,” he accentuates.
This is not the first time that Tagde is weaving concepts into music. His previous concept, Vibgyor, India’s first ever colour based fusion band experimented with relation between colors and ragas to the corresponding chakras in the human subtle system.
