Indian Classical music fest ‘Aarohi’ in 11th year

MUMBAI: Aarohi, the annual event for the budding talent of the Indian music industry is back in its 11th edition. The two-day festival is scheduled to commence from 25–26 May 2012 at YB Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai.

The concert will feature rising stars of hindustani sangeet including Sameehan Kashalkar son and disciple of renowned vocalist Ulhas Kashalkar, flute recital by Ninad Mulaokar, Ankita Joshi student of Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj, Surashree Ulhas Joshi disciple of Veena Sahasrabuddhe, internationally acclaimed Shakir Khan, son of sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez. The fest will conclude with the performance of Ramakant Gaikwad son of legendary vocalist Suryakant Gaikwad.

Organiser Pancham-Nishad director Shashi Vyas said, “Classical Music has a niche audience.  While it is a known secret that most people prefer to attend concerts of maestros like, Pt Ravi Shankar, Kishori Amonkar & Ustad Zakir Hussain amongst others. Aarohi provides a platform to these young rising stars of Indian music whereby the other organizers also get to know this untapped potential talent of the Indian music.”
