NEW DELHI: India and Bangladesh on Wednesday agreed to exchange programmes through their respective radio and TV organisations and will provide facilities for visiting radio and TV persons in each other’s country associated with the development of broadcasting/telecasting.
The two countries will also exchange two journalists each, including those engaged in dissemination of Government information. Both sides will participate in each other’s International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation films with their participants. They will organize Film Weeks in each other’s country, among other things.
This follows the signing of a Cultural Exchange Programme for 2010-2012 to promote cooperation in the fields of art and culture, youth affairs and sports, and mass media. The CEP was signed in the capital by culture secretary Jawahar Sircar and Bangladesh foreign secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes, during the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to the CEP, both sides will exchange the visits of scholars/academicians in the fields of art, culture and literature and also dance, music, theatre, Jatra groups, art exhibitions, mime shows, performing art groups, exhibitions and other cultural events to meet the local demands for exposure to each other’s rich cultural tradition.
India will invite Bangladesh to participate in the Trienniale-India and Bangladesh will invite India to participate in the Asian Art Biennale on reciprocal basis. Both sides will exchange experts performances and students in the field of theatre.
Both sides will exchange writers in the field of culture. Sahitya Academy will publish an anthology of poetry from Bangladesh and Bangladesh may take up an anthology of poetry from India.
The CEP envisages for both sides to share the experiences in the field of sports and explore the possibilities of exchanging sports teams/coaches/sports administrators in diverse disciplines.
