MUMBAI: Veteran Tamil music director Illayaraja’s wife Jeeva died due to a heart attack on Monday in Chennai.
Jeeva aged 60 complained of chest pain and was taken to Apollo Hospital where she was declared brought dead, according to sources. Five years ago, Jeeva underwent a bypass surgery following heart problems.
Illayaraja, who was in Hyderabad to compose music for a Telugu movie, flew to Chennai on Tuesday morning. Family sources said that the body would be taken to Pannaipuram village in Theni district for the last rites.
Jeeva has two sons Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja (music directors) and daughter, Bhavatharini (singer and music director).
