MUMBAI: It was in late 2016 when recreation of old songs was highlighted. This trend was initially difficult for most to digest but slowly and gradually it became the way of music. But, there is a set that still believes that originals are the way to go. The Baarish singer, Mohammed Irfan is one amongst them.
“I think covers for outside cinema like YouTube and live gigs are accepted. I feel every song has a story and to convey that emotion in the story it requires a different song. Each emotion has its value which can be created by original songs. We have many talented music composers, lyricist in the industry who can create good music. I think films should have original music,” said the Phir Mohabbat singer.
Irfan is a Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star 2 winner along with a contestant of Amul STAR Voice of India, as well as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005.

The singer has not only attracted fans with his Bollywood songs but also through his covers for various YouTube channels. “I have done covers of old songs for various YouTube channels. In fact, I recently sang a recreated version for T-Series’ Mixtape and received a very good response from all,” said the singer.
It’s been seven years since Irfan has entered the music industry and is also doing live performances. But, nothing gets better than a performance in Punjab for the singer. “It’s been two years since I have been performing in Punjab and each time I come here, the audience has welcomed me with love more than expected. I have heard that Punjabi’s enjoy listening to dance number more on which they can do Bhangda, but the first time I performed in Punjab, the crowd just amazed me. Keeping the audience at the back of my mind, I designed my performance with maximum dance numbers but the audience each time keeps requesting for romantic songs,” said Irfan.
Irfan recently sang Yaadon Mein for the film Jab Harry Met Sejal which he expresses to be one of the special songs as he lent his voice to Shah Rukh Khan for the first time. The singer is also working on covers for more YouTube channels along with Bollywood projects.
