MUMBAI: From becoming a YouTube sensation with his songs, Baaki Baatein Peene Baad, Gallan Tipsiyaan to his latest hit, La La La with Neha Kakkar and its reprised version, Arjun Kanungo has been creating ripples across the country for his fabulous music creations. The 29-year-old, who realized that music was his ultimate destination, while pursuing his education in the US is indeed a self-learned performer, trained in classical music. Having created a huge fan base not only in Indian but on the world map, the singer, who is also a composer and actor talks exclusively with Radioandmusic about La La La, his upcoming projects, Bollywood and more.
On the reprised version of the song that has crossed over 1.6 million views on YouTube, Arjun said, “It’s a beautiful song. I have to thank Bilal Bhai for giving me the opportunity to sing it. I made a reprised version because I saw the song in a different way. I also instinctively felt that I could rap on it. It’s the first time I’ve done that.”
Arjun, who has worked with actress Lisha Sharma in the reprised version talks about working with the actress as he says, “It was great. Lisha is a very sweet girl. I couldn’t believe she was completely Indian when I first met her. I think she was a perfect fit for the video.”

The original song featured Arjun alongside singer Neha Kakkar. When asked about replacing her with Lisha, the singer revealed, “I wanted it to be a unilateral conversation rather than a back and forth. Since there were no singing parts, it wouldn’t make sense for Neha to be in the video. I played Neha the reprised version before we shot the video and she loved it.”
But, Arjun was quick to choose Neha over Lisha, when asked to choose one based on the chemistry quotient. He exclaimed, “Haha. I think Neha. I have always been in awe of her as a performer. She has years of experience and a really warm energy which sort of pops on screen.”
Further shedding light on his upcoming projects, Arjun told, “I have two singles coming out next month. While, one is with Universal Music in June, the other one is with Desi Music factory right after. Also, I have just begun working on some acting projects. More updates coming soon.”
The singer who has been touring for a while now, revealed his next destinations. “I will be performing in Mumbai on the 1st of June, Bangalore on the 3rd, and a private event in Jaipur on the 4th.”
Lastly, the singer signed off by hinting that he is working on Bollywood movies, but won’t be revealing it yet.

Having won GIMA Award for the best debut in 2015, Arjun also featured in Times of India’s 100 most desirable men of 2016 at no. 31 beating Bollywood biggies like Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor.
