MUMBAI: Indian singer-rapper Ankit Singh Patial, popularly known as IKKA, rose to fame with the popular Bollywood tracks like In Da Club from the film Tamanchey, Badri ki Dulhaniya, Talli, Half Window Down, All I Need, Theek Hai Theek Hai and many more. Despite the fame he enjoys in Bollywood, Ikka enjoys independent music. He adds, “Bollywood somewhere limits you. The songs and music is situation based. This is precisely why I love to make my own music and publish it on my channel. The reach is wide these days too.”
The rapper recently released his latest hip-hop Hindi single Dope Ladka. Music composed by famous Punjabi singer and music producer Dr. Zeus, the song is penned and sung by Ikka himself. IKKA stated, “The concept of the song is basically expressing about everything that excites you. Dope doesn’t necessarily mean drugs. Dope is also a Delhi Slang, hence the lyrics. The music was composed while I was once traveling in my car and was hearing some instrumental music.”
Dope Ladka is an exclusive Times Music release and is available on Times Music YouTube channel and Gaana Exclusive and not on his own channel. Ikka reasons out, “When you are doing a commercial song, going through a music label or established platform is preferred. The way they promote the song is remarkable.” Indeed the results are for everyone to see, as the video has crossed over three million views in no time. Ikka continues, “We have grown up on Eminem and the likes. Of course Bollywood has been a major part of growing up too. But I am crazy fan of hip hop. I am waiting to do some crazy work in my future.”
