Harishchandrachi FactoryÆs music composer Anand Modak passes away

MUMBAI: At the age of 63, noted music director in the Marathi Music industry-Anand Modak passed away due to a massive heart attack in Pune on 23 May.

Jabbar Patel’s ‘Yashwantrao Chavan – Bakhar Eka Vadalachi’ is known to be his last project as a music composer. His music in the film ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ got nominated for Oscar.

His other works include ‘Samaantar’ directed by Amol Palekar; ‘Dambis’ directed by Makrand Anaspure; ‘Naatigoti’ and Smita Talwalkar’s award winning movie ‘Chaukat Raja’. He developed his love for music as he listened to the programmes aired by All India Radio. Modak is from Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region of Akola town where he spent his childhood and did his schooling.

Saregamapa winner-singer Neha Rajpal tweeted, “#RIP music composer Anand Modak kaka, yur music will always remind yur genius n u remain forever in our heart.”

Sangeet Haldipur tweeted, “His music was as expressive as he was.Full of soul,innocence & zest for life.He believed in me & every1 he worked with.RIP #AnandModak kaka.”

Radio Mirchi RJ Smita tweeted, “A gr8 composer Anand Modak ji! RIP.”

Modak celebrated his Birthday on 21 May just few days before his death. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
