MUMBAI: Guns N’ Roses’ original bassist- Duff McKagan, is said to be joining the band on its upcoming tour for a few South American shows. According to reports, McKagan, who is one of the band’s founding members, will be stepping in for current bassist Tommy Stinson while he reunites with The Replacements on 6 April to play a few shows.
On Monday, McKagan hinted at a reunion with his former band when he tweeted, “See y’all in the next few weeks, Si?” He also added a list of the places he would be visiting, which included Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. McKagan will open the tour on 3 April with Guns N’ Roses, but Stinson will regroup with the band on 13 May for the show at Bethlehem.
Stinson termed McKagan a “good buddy” for stepping in and covering for him on tour. He said, “I didn’t want to f*** anyone up in Guns by saying, ‘Hey, I can’t do this tour’ or anything like that. Luckily someone was able to reach out to Duff and he was amenable to the idea and was into doing it. It’s Duff being the kind of good sport he is, trying to help Axl out.”

McKagan added that he was happy to be involved in the tour and to play some of the band’s tracks again.
While Guns N’ Roses has been busy touring in the last few years, the band consists only of one of its original members- frontman Axl Rose. McKagan, who was part of the band from 1985 to 1997, has played with the band on all of the band’s previous albums, except for the 2008 album ‘Chinese Democracy’. However, he did perform with the band in 2010.
