MUMBAI: The 54th Grammy awards for the first time will recognise dance and electronic music with a special performance featuring Grammy nominees David Guetta, Foo Fighters, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Deadmau5.
Electronic dance music did not receive any category until 2003 and finally got its due with the introduction of best dance recording/ dance field.
The performance will depict the growing popularity of dance music in the recent years incorporating a high-end club atmosphere.
Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich said, My feeling about dance is it’s such an immersive experience for the participant that to put it on stage where the audience is not a part of it; I don’t know, honestly until we came up with the idea of doing it this way, I don’t know if it ever would have worked….
The unique performance will take place live on 12 February at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
