NEW DELHI: A sum of just over Rs 353.31 crore was spent on advertising in electronic media for government advertisements during 2015-16 on behalf of various Central Government Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate Offices.
Figures up to the end of 29 February 2016 show that this is part of the total government advertisements worth Rs 842.8 crore disbursed to various media by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity during 2015-16.
Electronic media includes Electronic Media comprising FM Radio, private C&S TV Channels, Digital Cinema, SMS, and Internet.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry sources added that the largest chunk of Rs 402.79 crore went into print media and the lowest chunk of 7.83 crore went into exhibitions.
A sum of Rs 66.83 crore went into Outdoor Publicity, and Rs 12.13 crore was spent on print publicity.
In electronic media, the largest chunk of just over Rs 189.642 crore went into publicising drinking water supply (Rs 888,196,956), followed by Rs 518201180 on Department of Family Welfare, Tourism (Rs 438,717,736), Income Tax (Rs 27504845) and Rs 238051652 on information and broadcasting.
